Why St Michael’s?

Our school is a fun, exciting place to learn, with learning experiences that foster curiosity and enjoyment. Our school offers real-life experiences to pupils, giving them opportunities to learn through a hands-on approach, with a chance to follow their own interests and projects. We foster resilience, self-confidence and independence where individuals will are encouraged to persevere, think creatively and problem solve. Our school gives learners opportunities to develop an interest in sport, with competition encouraged in a positive environment. St Michael’s recognises the diverse nature of our pupils and aims to celebrate their individual talents and abilities.

We are committed to providing 2 hours of P.E. provision per week for every pupil. There is a very good choice of out of school and extra-curricular experiences (netball, football, tag rugby, rounders, athletics, Fun and Faith, Urdd and fun and fitness). These cater for all ages and provide opportunities for pupils to develop social and life skills.

Music and Creative Arts

Here at St Michael’s we want to give the opportunity to every child to participate in musical learning experiences. These experiences can range from; class lessons, extra curricular music workshops, opportunities to learn how to play string instruments, summer concerts, school nativities, pantomimes and performing in our local church and for parents as part of the National Music Service for Wales first experiences. Children are also encouraged to showcase musical talents at the local and national Eisteddfod’s.

Children also take part in a range of extra curricular art clubs throughout the year, these give children the opportunity to express themselves with a range of media, which can range from paintings, sketches, collage, photography and digital art. The children also have regular opportunity to showcase their work at both our local school Eisteddfod and the local Eisteddfod.

Each term depending on the season (and weather) there is a varied selection of after-school clubs on different days for different age-groups.
